Privacy Policy
Privacy-first by architecture
The core privacy rule is simple: RookPDF never uploads, saves or stores your PDF documents.
Effective date
This policy applies from 8 August 2026. RookPDF is operated by Rook Dev Studio (rookdevstudio.site).
No document uploads
RookPDF does not upload user PDFs, images or generated documents to application servers, cloud storage or cloud buckets. Your files are opened and processed inside the active browser tab and exported through local downloads. This is the core architectural rule of the product.
Local processing
PDF operations use browser APIs and client-side libraries (for example pdf-lib, pdf.js, Tesseract.js and JSZip). Files are handled in the active browser session and are never transmitted for processing, conversion or storage.
Browser local storage
To provide preferences and local history, RookPDF stores small values in your browser's local storage on this device only. These include your consent choice, interface language, theme, recent download metadata (tool name, status, duration, timestamp — never document contents), recent searches, favourite tools and the currently selected plan. None of these are shared with RookPDF servers.
Google sign-in and account activity
Google login is optional and is provided through our Supabase-hosted authentication setup. When you sign in, RookPDF stores account identifiers required for authentication (such as your Google account id and email address). This data is separate from PDF content. For signed-in users, RookPDF also stores a lightweight activity record (user id, email and last-seen timestamp) in a Supabase activity table to power account features such as profile and preference sync.
Supabase-hosted content
RookPDF uses Supabase as its data provider for the public tool catalog, blog posts and contact messages. The tool list and blog articles shown on the site are read from Supabase. If you submit the contact form, your name, email address and message are stored in the contact_messages table so the team can reply.
Analytics
RookPDF uses Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights for aggregated, cookieless usage and performance statistics. These do not include document content or file names. Optional Google Analytics (GA4) loads only after you accept the consent banner and is configured with IP anonymisation. PostHog, if configured, follows the same consent rule. No document data is ever sent to analytics providers.
Advertising & cookies
RookPDF may show ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to this or other websites, and to measure ad performance. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com). RookPDF shows a consent banner on your first visit so you can accept or decline non-essential analytics and advertising cookies. See the Cookie Policy for details.
Data you choose to send
The only time personal data leaves your device is when you voluntarily send it: Google sign-in, contact-form submissions, and newsletter/marketing interactions if and when they are enabled. PDF content is never part of those flows.
User control
Closing the tab, clearing browser data, signing out, or deleting downloaded files remains under your control. Deleting your account does not touch any locally processed documents.
